MSA supplied valves for Turkey’s first nuclear power station

MSA has successfully completed the delivery of 10 DN600 and DN700 PN63 wedge gate valves for Unit 1 of the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant, which is being built on the southern coast of Turkey and is the country’s very first nuclear power plant.

This is a pilot project in which the valves were manufactured in accordance with Russian regulations for nuclear power plants and in line with European legislation. This type of contract tested our technical readiness and our ability to adapt to the specific requirements of an international project.

Production was carried out in the standard MSA design, with a colour scheme tailored to the customer’s requirements.

Preparations for the documentation for Unit 2 are currently underway, with a total of four units featuring VVER-1200 reactors planned for construction.

This project is further proof that MSA ranks among the reliable suppliers of valves for the nuclear power industry at an international level.
